Should Nigeria Democracy be redefined?

stealing democracy cover HIRES1 300x176 Should Nigeria Democracy be redefined?Over the past 3 decades, Nigeria has experienced  series of military-appointed presidents, all with purported intention to revive the country .Nearly all the uniform men who seized power looted the country’s treasury and today, many are lobbying to return to rule the country they ruined.  Although Nigeria returned to civilian rule in 1999 and is now among the “democratic nations”, many suggest that Nigeria democracy and in general Africa democracy should be modified, redefined to drift away from western definition of democracy so as to suit the pressure and demand of ruling Africa/African.

Whilst there are other problems facing the country such as widespread corruption, a major problem facing Nigeria today is the growing challenge of preventing the country from breaking apart along ethnic and religious lines. Thousands of innocent people, children in particular, have been caught in this “Animalistic and Barbaric acts”   by the selected few.

Two questions have cropped up:

1.       Should Nigeria and or Africa Democracy be redefined to suit Africa or Can Africa really practice Democracy?

2.       Should Nigeria Split and would that solve the problem?

Please  contribute to this discussion. Thanks

Nigeria is like a man who has cancer and the cancerous growth had been left untreated for too long. A simple operation or chemotherapy could have worked, but now the doctors verdict-“ Nothing can be done anymore, we will try to ease his pain,he has a limited time to live.”

Nigeria has gone beyond help, the devices are already there, and the govt is not helping with its callous and insensitive policies.
I wish the surfring and death imposed on the Igbo people during the biafran war had not happened, becos we are back to that same table.

Gowon looked honourable after stopping the exit of the Igbo people, not to blame him though,he was only acting the British script. Now we know he was just postponing the inevitable.

People should not die on behalf of the destroyers of Nigeria, the politicians, the so called leaders. For their greed a mighty nation has fallen.

we should all come together on a round table and agree peacefully to go our different ways.

It is just a matter of when, and it will most likely be 2015, without bloodshed I pray.
